Console Discrepancy Detector is False

I am done with my cube soccer game. I have everything finished, all transform positions assigned and goal detectors true when the game ends end the R key is pressed. I have the text and scoring system all set. There might be a few things to tink around with, but I doubt there is. I have everything ready. But the console doesn't think I do. For about 8 days it wouldn't let me apply game objects to their variables in the script, but I figured out why. But it took me a long time and, as anyone who has used Unity for some time knows, the console still says I have errors (there were multiple things coded and not applied). In fact, it says I have 999+ errors of the same thing: "Player1 variable has not been assigned." But I go into the inspector and, right there, it shows this: ![alt text][1] [1]: /storage/temp/115510-image.png Is it my fault, or is something MAJORLY wrong with the program (remember, it says this same error 999+ times)? The program won't run fully if I don't get rid of this error, and therefore I can't test if the game does what I want it to do. This is a serious problem, especially since it says this same error 1000 times, and I'll appreciate any help I can get. P.S. Sorry it's so long.
